Polyisobutene (PIB) Wrappingband CZH

PIB Wrappingband CZH is a non-toxic, cold-applied, prefabricated wrap coating. It is based on a compound of non-crystalline, low-viscosity, non-crosslinked (fully amorphous), pure homopolymer Polyisobutene. Its liquid nature allows it to cold-flow into substrate irregularities and self-heal small damages. It does not cure, is resistant to water, and has low gas and water vapor permeability. It requires an outer polymeric wrap like Outerwrap or High Impact Shield for improved impact and indentation resistance and to support self-healing.

Key Features and Benefits:

  • Self-healing: Repairs small dents, voids, and cracks.
  • Adhesion: Adheres well to steel and plant-applied pipeline coatings (PE, PP, FBE).
  • Surface Tolerant: No blasting required; wire brushing (ISO 8501-1: St 2) is sufficient for surface preparation.
  • Temperature Resistance: from -65°C to +90°C (-85°F to +194°F) for continuous buried and submerged services.
  • Chemical Resistance: Inert to aging and weathering, resistant to water, salts, acids, alkalis, and polar solvents.
  • Safety: Non-toxic, with no physical, health, or environmental hazards.
  • Ease of Application: Fast and easy field application, can be molded onto irregular shapes
  • Corrosion Prevention: No osmosis, underfilm migration of moisture, or cathodic disbondment. Does not affect Cathodic Protection (CP) of steel structures.

Application Examples: PIB Wrappingband CZH is suitable for external corrosion protection on:

  • Pipes and vessels (carbon steel, alloy steel, ductile iron).
  • Field joints of pipelines (girth-weld joints).
  • Pipe fittings (elbows, bends, tees, reducers, flanges).
  • Pipe coating repair and rehabilitation (e.g., according to ISO 21809-11).
