Field joints

Field joints

Field joints of Transmission Pipelines

Pipeline field joints—where two pipe segments are welded together—are vulnerable to corrosion due to challenges in coating application, environmental exposure, and mechanical stress.

Traditional field-applied coatings may not match the quality of factory coatings, leading to weak adhesion, thickness inconsistencies, or gaps. Crevice corrosion between the coating and weld area can trap moisture and contaminants, accelerating corrosion.

PIB based solutions for field joints require no specialized equipment. Full inflow into the weld means no adhesion issues, no gaps, no inconsistencies. With minimal surface prep (SP-2/SP-3 wire-tool clean), no primers, and no curing, completed applications can be backfilled immediately.

Polyisobutene (PIB) Pipeline Protection Solutions

Polyisobutene (PIB) Pipeline Protection Solutions

Advanced Corrosion Prevention for Critical Pipeline Assets

Polyisobutene (PIB)-based pipeline protection systems deliver unmatched corrosion prevention and long-term asset integrity for oil, gas, water, and industrial pipelines. Unlike traditional coatings that cure, harden, or depend on surface profile, PIB remains visco-elastic throughout its service life — constantly wetting the steel surface, sealing pores, and blocking moisture, oxygen, and corrosive elements.

Designed for field application with minimal surface preparation, PIB systems eliminate the need for abrasive blasting or specialized primers while reducing installation time and maintenance interventions. Its self-healing nature and inherent flexibility allow PIB to conform to complex geometries such as bends, flanges, valves, and field joints, maintaining a continuous barrier even under pressure and thermal stress.

Whether protecting buried pipelines from aggressive soil environments, shielding risers at soil-to-air transitions, or sealing high-risk flange and valve areas, Polyisobutene coatings extend service life, lower lifecycle costs, and enhance operational reliability

Condensing Lines

Condensing Lines

For wet and submerged assets

Polyisobutene (PIB) corrosion prevention is designed for application on wet and submerged structures. An innovative composition enabling application to condensing, damp, or wet surfaces, the product displaces moisture and adheres to the substrate at a molecular level.

PIB Wrappingband WSH provides permanent protection against moisture and oxygen, eliminating the possibility of corrosion. It can be used for coated pipelines as a coating repair or on new, bare piping where active lines suffer from condensation, or in environments with high relative humidity.
